What Is A Mixed Fuel Hob?
A mixed fuel hob (sometimes called a dual fuel hob) simply combines two or more fuel/cooking types (Gas, Induction, Ceramic) into one appliance. Most commonly it combines two or four induction zones with one or more gas burners all built-in together in one hob.
And, with many models, you don’t lose any of the features associated with their individual counterparts. Such as flexi-zones, automatic pan recognition, boost modes and residual heat indicators on the induction side. Sturdy cast iron supports and single-handed ignition for the gas burners.
There’s even one hob on my list that’s a 3-in-1 hob as it features a ceramic griddle zone – great for searing meats and making pancakes.
Mixed fuel hobs really are a fantastic option if you want the best of both worlds all combined into one neat package.

– The Best Mixed Fuel Hobs –
AEG HD955100NB 88cm Mixed Fuel Induction And Gas Hob
Dimensions: h47 x w880 x d520mm
Control Type: Touch controls
Flexi-Zone: No
Wok Burner: Yes, 1
Key Features: Stop & Go setting, residual heat indicators, cast iron pan supports, automatic gas hob ignition, child safety lockout
I’m a big fan of this AEG mixed fuel hob thanks to its multitude of must-have features.
If you’re interrupted while cooking, for example, the AEG’s Stop & Go feature reduces the heat across all zones to keep food warm and reverts back to your original setting when you’re ready to resume cooking.
Cast iron pan supports make it easier to manoeuvre heavy pans. Perfect for stir-frys over the powerful wok burner. While residual heat indicators show when there’s still heat on the induction hob surface.
With features like control lockouts to prevent children (or cats, yes that’s actually happened) from activating the hob accidentally and single-handed automatic gas hob ignition, AEG’s mixed fuel hob is a well-rounded choice that’s perfect for any kitchen.
All these great features at a competitive price make this my ‘best overall‘ pick!
